CHARETTA is a female-fronted modern rock band based out of New York City. Their sound can be described as aggressive, groove heavy rock topped with in your face, passionate vocals. Their 2013 release “Apocalypse” was recorded at VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, New York and produced by Mike Watts (Story of the Year, Theory of a Deadman). The five song EP displays the bands growing maturity as recording artists and features some of their most memorable work to date. “Great grooves, monster riffs and killer vocals,” describes Watts.

The band formed in 2007 when Angelina moved from her hometown of Kansas City to New York City. Soon after, she met Pablo and Adonis who were searching for a singer to front their new project. “She sang on our demos and just blew us away. One audition was all we needed to hear,” says Adonis. The three immediately sparked a chemistry and began writing music together. Several months later they added Richard as their bassist and the band’s core foundation was born. Once the pieces were in place, they traveled to Orlando, Florida to record their debut self-titled EP “Charetta” with producer Brett Hestla (Tantric, Framing Hanley). It was released in 2008 and was later followed by a full length album in 2009 entitled “Defying the Inevitable”, also produced by Brett Hestla. That same year, they filmed their first music video for the song “It Runs in the Blood”. The video was featured in the independent film “5th of a Degree,” which won awards at both the Miami and Las Vegas film festivals. In 2010, the band made a creative decision to expand their sound and added Chris as their second guitarist. “Chris and I have very similar styles, so it was a pretty natural fit and easy transition for us,” shares Pablo. Later that year, the band began recording music with producer Mike Watts for the first time and would later release their “A Nation Distracted” EP in 2011. Coinciding with the release was a new video for the song “Lights Out” which featured Angelina in a girl vs. girl “Fight Club” type scene. “I was trained to do stage combat in college, so when the opportunity came up to assemble a storyline, it was an obvious decision to include some fighting,” adds Angelina.

Since then, CHARETTA has opened for such national acts as Red, Hinder & Saliva, and have clocked in over 200 live performances to date. They are now setting their sights on new heights and are poised to make a significant impact with their latest offering.
