Can a human heart overcome a demon soul?

When soul-eating demons overrun his world, Kaelis, a young seraph warrior, uses the Queen’s ring to open a portal in space and flee with the infant heir to the throne, landing on earth. Unbeknownst to him, the demon leader, Nsark, follows through the portal, determined to devour the soul of every last seraph, especially the Queen’s heir. After Kaelis hides the baby, Nsark creates the ultimate weapon by fathering a half-human, half-demon: a soul-stealer’s child.

Sixteen years later, an awkward teen named James struggles to fit in with his peers. In a last-ditch effort, he joins the school play, where he meets Lucy. Something deep draws them together, and their friendship reveals their hidden pasts: one is an angel, one is half-demon. Lucy and James find themselves pulled into an age-old war between their peoples. Hunted by relentless enemies, and grappling with deep-seated instincts and strange new powers, they must fight for their lives, their souls, and each other.

Snippet:

James looked down at Lucinda’s head resting against his shoulder, her long tresses streaming down his arm and chest like a river of frozen fire. Her small shoulders rose and fell with each breath, but beyond that, she didn’t move. She looked like a sleeping angel fallen to the earth, and he had to fight the sudden urge to touch her hair. How it would feel to let his fingers run riot through those soft strands?

Book 1 - Sands of the Solar Empire

GET THE BRANDY TO BAZZ . . .
That’s all Paymaster Stenstrom, the Lord of Belmont-South Tyrol, has to do and the old warbird Seeker is his. He has dreamed of captaining a Fleet ship his entire life.
Little does Paymaster Stenstrom realize that he is in the grip of an old Vendetta and the short trip to Bazz might very well be his last.
Faced with a dead ship and a lost crew, Paymaster Stenstrom finds help in the strangest places: the thief Marine and the milquetoast young man from the Admiral’s office, and, though he just became acquainted with these two strangers, he discovers they have been influencing each other’s lives for a very long time.
Something sinister hovers over Paymaster Stenstrom and his two new friends, something they are only now becoming aware of. The SANDS OF THE SOLAR EMPIRE stretch out before them in an endless gulf brimming with the unknown. Can a masked Paymaster, a thief, a coward and a once great warbird face what awaits them?

Book 2 - Against the Druries

That’s what they say on Bazz, that the “Deep Sea”, the open space between the two planets, is cursed and full of bad dreams—but nobody ever listens to people from Bazz, do they?
Paymaster Stenstrom, Private Taara and Lord A-Ram struggle to navigate the Seeker, an old warbird, through the shipping lanes to Bazz. If the Paymaster can’t get to Bazz with his cargo of brandy, he loses the ship and will probably end up in jail as well.
Jail? If only . . . The three adventurers are about to discover the old farfetched mariner stories are very real and that the Devil himself waits for the unwary in dark places where there is no help.
The Circle closes in on Stenstrom, Taara and A-Ram, and its judgment for them is far worse than any jail cell. The Seeker is about of become just another ship that set sail from safe shores and was never heard from again, unless . . .
The Belmont Saga concludes in this heartbreaking and action-packed tale of friendship and dedication, of vile evil and hopeless terror, and that sometimes help for those gone astray comes from the most unlikely of places.

Snippet:

She sighed.
Ninety years of revenge and hatred. Lots of dust and an empty bed.
Empty soul.
Her sisters on Carina had taught her much: patience, skill and resolve. The only thing they hadn’t taught her was how to live with an empty life full of old bones and cold shadows.
What of the sorrow, my sisters, what of that? You promised to rid me of it, yet it remains. What am I to do?
Years ago, when she sat there by the sea holding the tiny Lord Stenstrom—the man she was even now scheming to humiliate, then kill—that was the only time in the past ninety years she’d been truly happy. How wondrous it had been to hold a child in her arms and be a mother if only for a few moments. Her sisters on Carina had taught her nothing of that.

The Circle was closing in on her as well.    –From Against the Druries.

Lady Bethany would rather die a spinster than submit to marriage—and thus reveal the horrible secret she has harbored for more than a year
Lord Locke is far too immersed in his service to the Crown for romance, but Lady Bethany is in dire circumstances.
Indebted to Bethany’s late father and his close friend, the earl offers a perfect solution for both of them: a marriage in name only.
Perfect, if only they weren’t so irresistibly drawn to each other—and if Bethany hadn’t found herself falling in love with a man even more mysterious than his reputation. Perfect, until she unwittingly learns he’s protecting her from a threat to her life.
To Mark, Bethany is just another assignment, a woman he’s convinced is hiding something. His offer of marriage was meant only to make it easier to safeguard her.
But when the simple threat turns to attempted murder and treason, Mark realizes that Bethany has stolen his heart and he can do nothing less than throw himself into a race against time to save her, whatever the price.

First lets take a look inside the book

The gentleman turned round to greet Lady Whitton when she approached, and bowed over her offered hand. Then his gaze shifted towards Bethany, who stood barely inside the room, as motionless and stiff as Mr. Drew.
That gaze, a rich, dark blue, pulled Bethany’s feet loose from the floor and lured her to him. Bethany had never seen such irresistible eyes. The earl stood a good head taller than her, his bearing relaxed but dignified. Near-black hair, a firm jaw, a straight, slender nose. Her bold inspection of him seemed to amuse him, his handsome smile framed by deep dimples—bookend parentheses—on either side of a full, engaging mouth.
Bethany heard her mother say, “I’m sorry we’ve kept you waiting, my lord. Lady Bethany had no idea you were here, of course.”
“I don’t mind, Lady Whitton,” the man replied in a rich baritone, those eyes twinkling. Then he added, “It’s not every day a man chooses a bride, and if she’s the right woman, she’s worth waiting for.”
Bethany paused at this baffling declaration, her heart flipping thrice in her chest. The man was gorgeous; he was engaging; he was far too kind. Which made her mind up for her, of course. She could not risk her heart with this man. No matter what, she could not marry him.

Aunt Mags didn't say a word on the way to the high school and neither did I. We were up and out too early for anything more than, "Got everything?" "Uh huh," and "Let's go." We'd left the house before her first cup of coffee and she was not in a talkative mood.
It was just after dawn, the moon still visible as the sun peeked out over the horizon. A chill in the air hinted at summer's end. I regretted leaving my sweatshirt behind, although after swim practice the sun would be shining and we'd be back to the mid-August heat.
We arrived at the school and a deserted parking lot. Mags parked her minivan at the athletics entrance.
"Are you sure it starts at 6:45?" she asked.
"Positive," I said.
She yawned. "Looks like you're the first one here."
"I doubt it."
Today was the first day of swim season. Tryouts started at 7 a.m. The coach had instructed all wannabe swimmers to be on the pool deck no later than 6:45. My experience as a varsity athlete told me that anyone with any degree of competitiveness had already arrived. I had five minutes to spare.
"Want me to walk in with you?" Mags asked.
My horror at her suggestion must have been all over my face, because she said, "Sorry. Having a teenager is new to me. My girls would beg me to walk them into that big, scary building." We looked at the three-story hodgepodge put together to house Two Rivers High School.
"I can take it from here." I was sure I’d remember the meandering route to the pool area from the tour we took when we registered for my senior year.
She still looked anxious. "Sure you're all right?"
"Don't worry. I've got this routine down pat." Two Rivers would be my third high school. I played the role of new girl so well I deserved an Oscar.
I opened the door and hopped out. "Don't hang around waiting for me to call for a ride home," I said, reaching back to grab my bag. "I'm not sure when I'll get out, and I don't want to mess up your day. I'm okay to walk."
Aunt Mags nodded, and I shut the door.
"Don't forget we're going back-to-school shopping later on," she said through the open window.
"Got it."
“Go get 'em, Aerin." She gave me a thumbs-up.
I shot her a grin, hoisted my bag over my shoulder, and went off to join the Two Rivers High School Girls Varsity Swim and Dive Team.

Bradley Michaels moves to the west coast to be closer to his family. Through a military commitment he meets a young woman who immediately grabs his interest. Thinking they have a connection, he is shocked when he sees her with someone from his past.
Kellee Drake snags a great opportunity to not only be part of a great charity fundraiser for Honor the Sacrifice but a chance to get her name out there. Through this gig she meets two guys and is instantly attracted to both. Thinking the worst of herself, it isn’t until the three of them are together that things get curiously interesting.
Ayden Jones lost his best friend in high school over a relationship. Or rather a lack thereof. But the suggestion freaked his friend out. Years later a simple photo shoot brings them together.
Can Bradley and Ayden mend their friendship and find love with Kellee? Can Kellee come to terms with her feelings for both men?

Review:5 out of 5

Another winner from Tanya Sands. This menage was hot, steamy and sexy. The writing was sinfully good which is much like the rest of the books in the series. It was a great addition to the Chasers Series, and can't wait for more.
