This was a step outside my comfort zone of genres that I typically read. Having not read any of the previous books, I was a little lost in the beginning, but was able to quickly catch up. I thought the general plot of the book was well written, the description was very picturesque. My biggest critique stemmed from my want of more dialogue to help keep the story moving along. Although this wasn't my type of book, others that love this genre would very much enjoy it.

The light. The power. It burns.

Save me! Save her! Siva? Mom?

Falling! Falling!

The arms. The arms that saved me. My eyes scoured the ground for him, for his body. Tendrils of fear squeezed my already exhausted heart and the threatened tears now fell furiously.

Then I realised where he must be.

I ran forward to the edge of the pit where the circle had been formed.

“Zak!” It was more a gasp than a word.

Lying at the bottom in a crumpled heap of blood and cloth was Zak.

“On the Spirits, no!” I couldn’t feel him within me. I pushed aside each person, forced out each voice, searched desperately for his mind.

There was nothing.

“NO!” I gasped as I tore myself from my own thoughts. Marcus rocked away from me, clearly shaken by everything he had seen. It had been mere seconds, such a lot to process in such a short space of time. Zak. All I wanted right here and right now was him. The need was core deep and binding. I leapt to my feet and stumbled as the blood pounded into my over-exhausted skull. Frantic, I looked around, needing to see Zak. Needing to be sure he was safe.

Book Review: Craze: Pierce Securities By Anne Conley

Model: Devon Ryan
Release Date: April 27th

When Krista catches her boss doing the unthinkable, the only thing she can do is run.  Straight into the arms of the eye-candy she’s been trying not to flirt with on her lunch break.  But whose side is he on?
Ryan’s security firm is having a hard time getting off the ground, and this may be just the job to help the company out.  But pseudo-bounty hunter isn’t really what Pierce Securities is trying to get a name for.  When he finds out their target is the classy lady from the park, all of his senses go on high alert.  What do these men want with her?
When Krista is forced into Ryan’s sanctuary in the woods, she realizes just how wild he is, and that she doesn’t want to tame him.  He may feel his methods of protection endangered her, but without Krista in his life, Ryan is crazed.

This is book #1 in the Pierce Securities, a Romantic Suspense series by Anne Conley.

Anne has written her entire life and has the boxes of angst-filled journals and poetry to prove it. She's been writing for public consumption for the last four years. Currently she is writing two romance series. In Stories of Serendipity, she explores real people living real lives in small town Texas in a contemporary romance setting. In The Four Winds, she chronicles God's four closest archangels, Uriel, Gabriel, Raphael, and Michael, falling in love and becoming human. She lives in rural East Texas with her husband and children in her own private oasis, where she prides herself in her complete lack of social skills, choosing instead to live with the people inside her head.

Review:

I have been an avid reader of Anne Conley's collection of books and loved each one. But Craze: Pierce Securities, by far blew me away. Right away I was trapped inside this book and could not put it down. I won't give away any spoilers, but you are thrown into the chaotic predicament that Krista stumbled into. She only had one choice and that was to run. Lucky for her, she ran into the arms of the man she considered eye candy. There were points where I found my heart racing in anticipation of what would happen next. If this was the first book in this series, I can't wait until we see more from the Pierce Securities series.

Snippet

“When was the last time this happened to you?

It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining happily down on everything and everyone, including

you. You have a blanket spread out on the thick, green grass. It is soaking up the warmth from the sun with every second, inviting you to stretch out and bask it all in. The breeze ruffles your hair, tickling your temples. The fresh scent of cut grass mingle with pine needles from the park’s manicure earlier in the day.

You look up at your kids playing on the park play set nearby, and you can’t help but chuckle.

They are just so stinking cute, playing there together. Their giggling floats away on the wind.

You pick up your book with a sigh - content.

But just as you settle in, bare toes curling in the grass, you feel it. It starts as a slight tremor up

the back of your neck. Then it slithers down your spine. You feel like you’re being watched. Unease flutters in the pit of your stomach, and you just can’t sit still.

Finally you get the nerve to peek over your shoulder, and there it is! Guilt! Big, fat, ugly, hairy,

scary guilt! And it is there for you.

It won’t let you rest. It won’t let you relax. It stares at you, demanding your attention. Then

you hear it whispering to you. You know what it says….

“What do you think you are doing? You can’t be here. You can’t relax. You have too much to

do. Who do you think you are? You are the MOM. You aren’t allowed to have fun. What about the cleaning? What about the laundry? What about that project? What about his homework assignment? What about the dinner party in two days? Shouldn’t you be making 150,000 hand-stamped bookmarks for Sunday’s lesson? Shouldn’t you be getting on those five dozen custom-decorated cupcakes for scouts? When are you ever going to finish that dress (or scrapbook or clock or doily or whatever it is still taking up room in “that closet”)? What makes you think you can take a break?”

Please tell me I am not the only one who can hear it so vividly!

For over twenty years, I have wrestled with this pesky, little bugger. With nine children, being a

stay-at-home mom, a recovering perfectionist and a homeschooler to boot, I probably have had more than my own fair share of guilt. (Haven’t we all?) But guilt is the big, bad arch-nemesis of Joy. Joy is my all-time, absolute favorite word, I believe, the ultimate reason of why we are here.”

Jason’s Duty
By: Alisha Guenzel
Blog Tour April 22nd-27th

A Cowboy and his Duty
Jason McGregor was a country boy raised on a horse ranch. His daddy taught him the meaning of family responsibility but that didn't teach him anything about the rules of love. In Jason's eyes it was all about the horses and keeping the McGregor Ranch going. When Haley Sheridan came to visit, Jason's world gets turned upside down. He could no longer see black and white anymore.
Haley Sheridan was far from home and lost without her father. Her emotions were all over the place. She only came to Montana out of duty to her mother. She didn’t understand how Mrs. McGregor took care of all the house hold chores from cooking, cleaning, and making sure her husband and sons were taken care. But when she looked at Jason there was something in his eyes that made her want to understand.
Could a cowboy love a city slicker? Or a city slicker love a cowboy? Neither one knew how to communicate what they really wanted. Come follow Jason and Haley in Book 1 of The McGregor Saga. See how two hearts can become one with enough faith.
