The Interview:

Was there a specific moment in your life that caused you to believe you should become a writer?

I knew in high school I wanted to write. My English teacher loved my essays and after winning a county-wide contest the love of writing was cemented. I had ideas when I was in my 20’s but it wasn’t until I lost my last job and started roll playing other author’s characters that my muse finally showed up and pestered me to write.

What do you find to be the best method for promoting?

Being on a tight budget, I’d love to be able to do release tours. I rely on self-promotion and word of mouth. I also try to do as many takeovers on Facebook as I can. 

What rules of craft or promotion do you live by?

Rules? Hmmm, I’m not sure I live by any rules. I tend to think that the word of my books will get out. I mean, come on we all have dues to pay, right?

Do you have any upcoming book releases, works in progress, or any big events coming up?

I’m hoping to have my 4^th book (Constructed Pleasure) of my series come out in the next few months. But that won’t happen until 1-3 (Double Her Pleasure, Mobile Pleasure & Recipe for Pleasure) are re-released. I’m currently having new covers created for them. I’m looking at Feb-April for the re-releases.

I will also hopefully be releasing book 5 (Captured Pleasure) this year, but am not sure yet. My current WIP is called Mechanical Pleasure.

As for events? I’m actually attending my very 1^st author signing, AS AN AUTHOR, in December. The event will be held in Dallas, TX and it’s called Deliciously Dirty in Dallas. I can’t wait to meet some potential new readers.

Tell us about your newest release.

The only book I have out is actually a bundle of the 1^st 3 books in The Chasers series. After my ex-publisher and I parted ways, I needed to get new covers made for the three books before I could re-release them. Since it would take less time to make 1 cover than 3, I chose to bundle them THEN re-release them after. 

Who are your favorite characters in the book? Why?

Well, ALL of my Chasers are my favorite because of their willingness to ignore society. As for my lady characters? I’ve written 5 so far and out of those 5 books my favorite would have to be Josephine ‘Josie’ Stuart. She endured so much abuse as a child/teen and though she was broken, she wasn’t beyond repair. Deep down she held out hope that maybe one day someone for HER would come around, and he sure did.

Which celebrity would you most want to be stuck on a deserted island with?

Right about now is when I SHOULD say Charlie Hunan or maybe Zac Ephron, right? I mean come on, if I’m gonna be stuck on an island I’m gonna need to be entertained, right? *winks* But then I think, hmm I’m gonna want someone who can cook literally ANYTHING and I have to admit he’s kinda hot, so Gordon Ramsey would have to be my choice, with the hopes he could entertain me as much as Charlie and Zac (of course if we were the last people on earth lol).

The best way to describe your writing process is: Peaceful Meadow, A Fun Day at the Beach, Controlled Chaos, or a Hurricane.

Hmmm, I’m not sure if any of those descriptions really describe how I write. LOL I would say it’s more like when a stoner smokes a joint. Or a meandering stroll down along the shoreline of a peaceful beach. LOL

If you could have dinner with one famous person (past or present) who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with one famous person it would be William Wallace. On my mother’s side I’m part Scottish. I’ve always been fascinated his life. I’ve been told by a Scottish citizen that the movie wasn’t nearly accurate. I would be awestruck to be in the same room with the man.

Hmmm, I certainly won’t pass up the chance to ask YOU something. LOL Ok, here goes:

You’re sitting at a poker table playing cards with 3 other people (dead or alive). Who are they and who do you think will walk away from the game with the most?

Let's see, I'd put Edgar Allan Poe, Johnny Depp, Bon Jovi (One of the greatest authors, one of the greatest actors, and one of the greatest bands). Since I don't think Poe will be too good at Texas Hold Em, I'd say he would be out first. Depp would tap into various roles to bluff his way to the finals. People catch on to how I play too quickly so I'm out. Bon Jovi will get to the final two but would lose to Depp.

Tell us a about yourself.

I’m the mother of 4 boys ranging from 5-26. The grandmother of a beautiful little boy. I’m the youngest in a not-so traditional Italian family. I’m the wife of a cross country truck driver who works his butt off to support me and our 2 boys and enable me to concentrate on writing. I’m also a die-hard patriot.

How long have you been writing and what inspired you to write?

I’ve been writing for about 2 yrs and have 5 books finished, 3 of which have been published. I’ve always considered myself a bit of a storyteller. My desire to take a reader out of their life, even if for a short time, has always been a dream.

Tell me a little about your book.

I have a series of books (called The Chasers) about a group of friends who share a common bond of their preference of curvy women that society says are undesirable because of their size. The themes so far have ranged from ménage to BDSM and new age.

Who has been your greatest writing inspiration?

The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward was a HUGE inspiration. I loved the bond the warrior vamps had. I loved the cocky dialogue and the romance too. Mostly I loved how Ward’s characters touched my and changed how I thought. I want that for my characters.

What would be your ideal writing space?

I don’t really have an ideal space. Since I’m never alone and never in a quiet house, I’m not sure how I’d be able to work if I had any time specifically for my writing.

If you could meet any author from any time period, who would it be and why?

I’m not one for classics so it would be a couple of modern writers. The first I HAVE met (JR Ward) albeit briefly at a book signing. But if I could have a sit down with both JR and Diana Gabaldon I’d be happier than a pig in sh-, mud. Their 2 different styles of writing have had a great impact on me.

Now a little more about you: If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you bring (excluding family, laptop, or writing utensils)?

Laptop  - so I can keep writing (internet not needed lol I’d probably get more done lol)

Kindle loaded with TONS of books – despite my being an author I still have a voracious appetite for reading

Unlimited supply of white chocolate peanut butter cups & the guarantee I won’t gain the weight from them (my kryptonite lol).

We find out the world is going to end tomorrow. How do you live your last day?

Eating WHATEVER the hell I want and reading in a QUIET room (yeah THAT will never happen lol)

If we were to make a movie of your life. Who would play the part of you?

I would want Melissa McCarthy to play me. I think she’s gorgeous and funny as hell. ‘Nuff said.

Tell us 5 random things about yourself.

I am an amateur quilter. (I only know 1 pattern )

I’m OBSESSESSED with Betty Boop

I have self-diagnosed OCD when it comes to being on time (my father being an AF retiree and the AF stressing it solidified the condition)

I hate decorating for any holiday. Seriously, I may like to bake and cook but I OBVIOUSLY lack the decorating gene lol

When I was in the military, I REALLY, REALLY wanted to become a translator. I loved learning new languages when I was in school.

What are the three places you have always wanted to visit but have not yet?

Scotland, Italy and Hawaii (although I was born in Hawaii, I’d LOVE to see it as an adult)

If you could travel to any time in history, when would you visit?

Times of the pirates. Yes, I’ve still got pirate romances in my head and am very much romancing the time, but it just seems SO exciting. Seeing the shirtless buccaneers would be awesome *winks*

If you could have dinner with any of your characters, which ones would you choose? What food would you serve?

I’d want to have dinner with the ladies of my books. And I’d serve all the comfort food my mom used to make when I was growing up. Anything from fried tuna (yeah its complicated) to hamhocks and beans (mom’s from the midwest lol) and pasta with homemade marinara sauce (well, I DID say I was Italian, right?).

Okay, crystal ball time. Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

I SO want to say on a bestseller’s list, but I’m being pessimistic as the romance genre is brutal. No, I can see myself still an author but possibly branching out from only writing BBW romances to ones with slender women too (hey everyone deserves a love story, no matter their size *winks).

Review:

If I had to sum this book up in one word, that one word would be WOW! This book hooked me from the very beginning. The description of Miranda "Randa" and how she viewed life as a full figured woman and what she had to deal with when it came to her exes, really stood out. She was a kind and generous woman that was emotionally scarred by men that claimed to care for her. It made my heart break for her. The addition of Jack and Chase pursuing and genuinely caring for her was sweet, charming, and steamy. This book had so many incredible elements to it that depicted a different style of relationship. I thought this book was so good, I went out and bought the second one right after finishing this one.
