Book Review: Chasing Lyrics by Debbie Dickerson

About the Author

Life is too short to always walk a straight line!

My novels are sexy, funny, easy to read, contemporary, romantic, will push the edge of crazy, and unpredictable.

I was born and raised outside of Los Angeles, yes, I am a Valley Girl! I moved to Texas in 2006 and absolutely love it here. I bring to my books a city girl sass mixed in with sexy southern charm!

Enjoying my family is my number one joy. I am sarcastic, have a mouth like a Sailor, and was born without a filter...what you see is what you get!

I absolutely love interacting with my fans and welcome all comments, questions, and compliments...especially compliments! If you reach out to me, I will respond!

Thank you! I look forward to hearing from you.

Sixteen years pass and they remain inseparable best friends. Living in the same apartment complex in Austin Texas, Dylan writes songs and Tanner sings them. When they discover that the only secret they have kept from one another is their true desires to be more than just best friends, all bets are off.
As fate would have it, a huge modeling contract takes Tanner around the world for six months. Can their new found love withstand the distance? Will Jennifer Temple, the well-known notorious model that is on his shoot, get her way and tear them apart?

Chasing Lyrics is the first book in the Music & Lyrics Series!

Review: 5 Stars*****

Let me start off by saying this book was incredible. I loved everything about this book, including the little twist at the end. Tanner and Dylan (aka Lyrics) were great together and had an amazing friendship that finally turned into something more. Chasing Lyrics was a nice quick read, very descriptive and had enough of the sex to plot ratio that kept you enticed and pleased with how hot and heavy the scenes were, as well as had a great plot that kept me wanting to read more. I am now chomping at the bit for the second book in the series.

Review:

The book was a little hard to get into at first, but quickly drew my attention. The characters were interesting, witty, and a realistic feel to them. As much as I liked the book, I did find a few things that took away from thoroughly enjoying it. The first happened to be the length of the book. I am all for reading a long book, but kept feeling like the end was coming soon and I was still at 60%. The only other thing that bothered me was the point of view. In some areas, it was difficult to tell whose perspective I was reading (Derek or Samantha). The bigger problem was the random interjection of Elizabeth's perspective. Despite finding it a bit predictable, I thought the book was well written and had an interesting plot.

Book Review: Cuffed by Eden Rose

About Eden Rose

Hello! My name is Eden Rose and its a pleasure to meet you. I have been writing for a long time and once I picked a topic, I couldn't stop writing. My books are very special to me because in some aspect I have had experience in the subject matter one way or another. I love reading romance but I like the main male lead to be a real bad boy, not one who thinks they are bad.

I live in Michigan with my husband and three fur babies! I can be found taking my dog for walks all over town or in a quiet corner reading. I have two degrees in history and criminal justice from a small private college in Michigan where I also joined a sorority.

Cuffed (Lockdown Series Book 1)

I thought I was okay being on my own, but then I realized what I was missing. You.

Chloe is a tough woman who doesn't believe in relationships. She views them as a prison and enjoys being a free bird in life. It's unfortunate for her that she's secretly in love with her hot roommate, Grant. One drunk night, the two best friends hook up and she thinks it means more than it did.

Grant is a person who believes in monogamy and thinks that people should be in relationships. When he wakes up to his best friend in his bed, he panics and drops her off into her own bed.

A few years have passed and the two are now face to face in a business setting. Chloe is a hot shot FBI agent and Grant is about to be her partner. The two realize that there's a sh*t ton of unresolved issues and know that it needs to be fixed before they can work together.

Is this the second chance that is needed for Grant to show Chloe that relationships are not all that bad? Or, will their job affect their budding relationship? Being FBI agents, the job comes first and it's about to throw some wrenches into the road.

*Teaser!
My hand has been grabbed and he laced our fingers together. Such a simple touch shouldn’t mean this much, but it does. “What are you thinking about over there?”

I smile at him and squeeze his hand. “Just thinking about you…”

“How handsome I am?”

I blurt out a laugh and roll my neck. “You are so humble.”

This is what I love about being with him. I love the fact that we can still be silly together and know that we can be ourselves. None of that heavy shit where we have to talk about our feelings and all of that.

“Finally!” I yell and unbuckle my seat belt as he pulls into the garage. I’m half tempted to jump over the seat and molest him.

Grant swaggers over to me and opens the door for me to get out. I laugh when he grabs my hand and kisses the top of my hand. “My lady,” he bows in front of me with my hand to his lips.

Before I can say anything, he has picked me up and thrown me over his shoulders. “Hey!” I yell but he swats my ass and my body falls like a sack of potatoes on his back. “Put me down!” No use! He shuffles me so that my stomach is laying on his shoulder and my body is hanging down.

Review:

The premise of the book was what drew me to purchasing it. I mean who wouldn't want to read about two friends that made it to the F.B.I. together hook up while they solve cases. The characters themselves were interesting. Each had secrets they kept hidden from the other and had issues with relationships. The beginning was well written and loved the book until I got to the middle. It started to seem like every other chapter Chloe was being thrown into another case which became confusing and somewhat unlikely that a Captain would assign three cases (2 of which are high profile) to Chloe and her team when there are many other agents that could also carry out the investigations. The constant sex in the book was hot, but felt the amount of it took too much away from the story. Now don't get me wrong; I'm all for having a lot of sex in books, but feel like the plot could have been developed better or more detail added to the investigations in addition to what was currently displayed in the book. The ending was great. I loved the little cliffhanger to lure me into the second book. Needless to say, I do look forward to reading the second book in the series to find out what happens to Chloe, and hope it is better than this one.

Book Review: Ultimate Betrayals Exposed by Catrina Courtenay

About Catrina

Born and raised in New York, Catrina is a U.S. Veteran, wife, mommy, controller of chaos, domestic engineer and cook. She loves wine, good books, good food and especially anything slathered in Nutella.

Always a storyteller, she enthralled her friend with tales of her wild daydreams involving the latest hot boy band (okay, they weren't called boy bands back in the 80s. They were called Duran Duran), but she never wrote them down.

She eventually grew up and embarked on a not so exciting career in the military, followed by an exciting career working in IT for a few major U.S. corporations and traveled the world. And instead of meeting in their hometown, she met her husband in Cyberspace while he was in Korea.

Marriage and having a child afforded Catrina more time to read, one of her former passions, and eventually, to begin writing.

With the support of her family, she's released her first novel, Ultimate Betrayal: Revelations and is working on the follow up - Exposed.

You can follow Catrina on Twitter @catcourtenay or at www.catrinacourtenay.com

Ultimate Betrayal: Exposed

When you’ve been betrayed by your best friend, and a psychotic serial rapist is stalking your every move, nothing much should surprise Ronnie Harper. Determined to take back her life, she starts fresh, taking on a new business partner and for the first time in years, a man that cares for her. As Ronnie and Erik are throw into one unimaginable situation after another, her faith in herself is pushed to the limit. She doubts the people around her, her own judgment and even Erik’s growing feelings for her. He’s relentless and even when she pushes him away, he won’t give up, though he doesn’t realize it may be the only way to protect him from Jeff and his psychotic brother, Kincaid.
When they are confronted with the worst imaginable situation, Kincaid puts their love to the test. Is their bond strong enough to survive the dark, twisted mind of a sadistic rapist? Or will Ronnie’s past eventually destroy them?

Warning - Ultimate Betrayal: Exposed is NOT a standalone novel. It is the second book in the Ultimate Betrayal Series. I recommend you read the first book, Revelations before reading Exposed.

Also, this book is intended for mature readers, 18 years of age +. It is not intended for the faint of heart, or the prudish. It contains lots of sex. Steamy, hot, backseat of the car sex. It contains some strong language, dark, disturbing themes and yes, there’s a Cliffhanger. Please don’t complain about the lack of an HEA because this book doesn’t have one.

Review:

I seemed to enjoy this book more than the first. There was definitely more sex than the first book had. However, there were points where it made me lose sight of the actual story. I loved the chemistry between Erik and Ronnie, but started to get a little annoyed by how hot and cold Ronnie was throughout the story. I thought the cliffhanger ending was written much better than the first book which had me looking for book 3.

Book Review: Our Moon by Jennifer L. Allen

About Jennifer L. Allen

Jennifer lives in South Carolina with her husband and their three fur-kids. When she's not at her day job or taking classes, she is either reading or writing. Books have always been a passion! Released from her long-term care facility to her twin brother, Alex, and her older brother, Trevor, Ally tries to piece together what she can.

Do Ally and Chase have a chance? Or are there secrets in Ally’s past that may ruin any hope for them?

http://www.amazon.com/Our-Moon-JACT-Jennifer-Allen-ebook/dp/B00YDOFMU2/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

Review:

Our Moon, was a well written story about a girl (Ally) who faces life after a car accident which claimed her parent's lives and her own memory. Her two brothers  cared for her and welcomed her back home when she was released from the hospital. The book itself was nicely done for a debut book. However, I found it a little difficult to get into at first and a bit predictable. I feel this was a very good beginning for Ms. Allen and look forward to reading more from her.

P.S. She still kinda likes Duran Duran

 Ultimate Betrayal: Revelations

It didn’t matter that Veronica Harper spent years in the military and then was trained by the best of the best at the FBI. It didn’t matter that she was skilled in hand-to-hand combat or that she was one of the most sought after bodyguards in the industry. When Kincaid got a hold of her, he stripped away everything she thought she was and left her broken and terrified. Questioning her trust in everything and everyone around her, Veronica left Los Angeles, hoping to make a fresh start. Unable to shake her demons, she found help in her neighbor, Dr. Sarah Wells, a Psychology professor at the local university.

Now, she is being forced back to Los Angeles in order to protect Hollywood’s most sought after bad boy, Erik Sinclair. On the cusp of super-stardom, he’s taken the role as a leading man in a major studio film, but someone thinks he doesn’t deserve it. Someone wants to hurt him.

A man with a reputation, Erik Sinclair is known for his talent, chiseled good looks, and the hordes of women clambering for his attention. Recently separated from his longtime girlfriend, he is tired of the typical Hollywood bimbos that he meets, and he sets his sights on the intelligent and sassy Veronica. He’s sexy, protective, and unrelenting in his pursuit of her, but he doesn’t know about the demons that haunt her.

When past and present collide, will Ronnie be able to face the darkness that haunts her and save the only man capable of fixing her?

Review:

Right from the beginning I was hooked. The description and dialogue trapped me within the pages of the story. Erik Sinclair is a cocky, arrogant jerk, which came through perfectly in the beginning. Throughout the story you see behind the mask of a star and let us see who he really is. Ronnie (the security hired to protect Sinclair) tries to be all business, but can tell something is troubling her. Throughout the story you see her emotional side as she recounts the worst time of her life, being held captive by Kincaid. I thought the introduction of Kincaid and Ronnie's past was good to have pop in and out of the story. The ending was the only thing that bothered me because it felt like it was incomplete (kind of like the ending to the Sopranos). I did want to know what happened next, but didn't have the omg I need to know right this second read to it.

Book Review: Lost City: Champions of Darkness BY D.L. Colon

About the Author

Synopsis:

After the events in Puerto Rico, after the declaration of the New Savior of the world, Noryad King, defeated Raphael, Commander of the Destroyers and taken away his powers, Lucifer has been forced to send someone to look for a new Champion who would be able to defeat Noryad King.

While looking in Hell, the guard she sent found a long condemned prophet who was screaming, “The Champions of Darkness have been set free.” And he immediately reported back to Lucifer.

Who are these Champions of Darkness the prophet speaks of?

Is The Lost City Ready for this?

Review:

Taking place shortly after the book, King's Inheritance, Lucifer is in search of her own champion to burn earth to the ground.

This is a quick easy read that bridges the second book in the series to the anticipated third book. I liked seeing a new take on the story where it focused solely on Lucifer's Champion and how powerful he truly is. It makes me wonder how the Champions selected from the first two books, and the other warriors from the Lost City will fare against such an unstoppable force.

My only criticism is that I wish there was more to the book. I wanted to know more about the characters and why they were banning together to destroy earth.

Book Review: The Lost City: King's Inheritance By D.L. Colon

Synopsis:

The King family was killed on their throne when Raphael attacked the Caribbean, looking for the location of the boy of the prophecy.

During the battle they sent Noryad, their fourth and strongest son, through a portal to the Guild Never Too Late, but not before he watched how his brothers and sister were killed in front of his eyes. As the portal closed he heard Raphael say to him, “I will look for you when you are older. You cannot hide forever.”

Now 24 years old, Noryad is forced to leave the Guild he dedicated his life to because his powers are getting out of control, but his departure happened for another reason too. His parents left him a mission for when his powers got to be too much to deal with.
Go my son. Reclaim what is yours by right. Look for the Sword of Kings, the one our ancestors used during their leadership. Make our army of the dead comeback to life. Make the King of Camelot kneel before you and recognize you as his descendant.
Noryad, left with no other choice but to return to the place that has many dark memories for him, goes through a portal and into the unknown to look for something he’s never heard of.

He must learn to control his powers as he faces something sinister waiting for him in his Kingdom, and the Demon he hates the most.

Will Noryad be able to control his powers, find the sword his parents were talking about and make them proud of him? Or will he be too consumed by his revenge to claim his inheritance and lose all that he holds dear.

Review:
This is the second book in the Lost City Series. With the first book's cliffhanging ending, I was already looking forward to this one. The storytelling in this book was well written, much better than the first one. The descriptions were more vivid, the characters well rounded, and there was just enough backstory to wet the appetite for what the story was about to bring.
The beginning of this book was nothing like I thought it would be. It did not continue where book 1 left off. It began with the tale and legend of King Arthur (one of my favorites). I won't give much away, because the more you read this one the more you will want to dive deeper into the story. My only criticism was that the ending left me wanting more of the battle and less of the set up for the next book.

Make sure you get this exciting book from D.L. Colon on Amazon.com

Excerpt-
“You’re hot as hell when you’re in your element, you know that?”
“Oh yeah?” She pushes away from me and grins. “Is that the only time you think I’m hot?”
“No.” I laugh. I have a hard time catching my breath when she slides her hand under the hem of her shirt, exposing her toned stomach. “Fuck no. All you have to do to have my cock beggin’ to be touched is breathe in my vicinity.”
“Good to know.” Emerson winks at me before spinning and heading toward the parking lot. Her hips swing with each step and it drives me insane.
“How the fuck can I want someone so much that I only met a few days ago?” I call out as she reaches for the door handle on her truck.
“Infatuation,” she yells back over her shoulder. I take a few long strides and press myself against her back, forcing her chest against the truck. I make sure I don’t press hard enough to hurt her and scrape my teeth across the junction of her neck and shoulder. She moans, rolling her head to the side for me. “I have a theory, wanna know what it is?” I nod against her skin and wait to see what she has to say. “My theory is if we get it out of our systems we won’t want each other as much.”  Doubtful.
“And why’s that?”
“Because I don’t wanna want you as much as I do and I think that feelin’ you touchin’ me and gettin’ it out of my system will help.”
“What if I don’t wanna stop wantin’ you? What then?”
“You will. My appeal will diminish the second you get what you really want.” She pushes me back using her ass and opens the door of the truck, jumping in. “Follow me.”

Out of four loving, but hard-assed, brothers she has been set on fire TWICE, shot at, left her with a burning car and a five gallon container of gas, scared out of her mind every time they got behind the wheel, and has enough hilarious stories and amazing memories to fill a million books. It made her independent and every female character she writes reflects strength and independence. Katheryn books are full of page turning suspense, humor, and enough steam to overheat your e-reader.

Originally, I was supposed to have reviewed this book. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I have been unable to obtain the free copy for review. However, I feel as if this book is one that could be too good to pass up.
